Collar variations and cuffs, classic or with decorative appliqués, various pocket shapes, different button plackets and hems for wearing the shirt inside and out - in short, countless combination options for individual design. 

From the spread Italian shark collar, the sporty button down, the classic Kent collar to the stylish tab and pin collar or minimalist Indian stand-up collar, each collar reflects its own identity. The stiffness of the collar insert has a decisive influence on the look of the shirt. While a rather firm collar is traditionally a part of business shirts, we use softer inserts for casual and sports shirts, which emphasize the casual and relaxed style. However, we generally recommend a semi-firm interlining to increase comfort.

SELECT THE RIGHT FABRIC 

After styling and fit, the shirt fabric is an important criterion for a made-to-measure shirt. We can advise you with our expertise. As shirts are often worn next to the skin, the factor of absolute COMFORT is very important for the right choice of fabric. WERNER SCHERER shirts are made from the highest quality fabrics, such as Giza, Supima, Sea Island Cotton, Normandy Linen or pure silk. Whether finest poplin, robust Oxford, attractive linen or Cashmerello for the winter. Renowned fabric suppliers such as ALUMO, a Swiss manufacturer of the best cotton fabrics, and the northern Italian weaving mill ALBINI with the top collections THOMAS MASON and DJ ANDERSON stand for a comprehensive selection of colors and designs on the one hand and for sustainability in the production of the fabrics on the other.

Exquisite mother-of-pearl buttons matching the color of the fabric give the tailored shirt a special touch.

TAKING  MEASUREMTS   

Tailored shirts individually tailored for you according to your wishes and ideas. If you want your tailored shirt to be slightly fitted or a little more casual, we recommend a close-fitting cut that combines a modern silhouette with sufficient freedom of movement.

Werner Scherer will measure you personally. In addition to your body measurements, the measurements of a sample shirt will also be noted to ensure a perfect fit. Your personal pattern is then developed from these measurements. We take into account your stature and posture as well as your personal preference for fit and comfort. Your shirt is then tailored by hand in our Italian shirt manufactory according to your pattern. Your measurements are archived for future orders and if your measurements have changed, your cut will be adjusted accordingly.

TRADITIONAL TAILORING

With all the pride of almost 75 years of tradition, we combine past and present in the manufacture of our shirts. Our made-to-measure shirts are manufactured in Italian factories according to our standards. We attach great importance to traditional tailoring. From the cutting of the pre-washed fabric to the sewing and ironing, each of our tailored shirts is handmade with passion and an expression of Italian craftsmanship.

For your handmade shirt made to measure, choose between a machine-assisted version or a luxurious “fully handmade shirt” with work steps that are carried out entirely by hand using only a needle and thread, such as hand buttonholes, hand-inserted sleeves and collars as well as delicate “leg corners” to reinforce the seam ends, which emphasize the virtuoso skills of the processing technique.

We discuss all the details for every order so that you end up with a made-to-measure shirt that is completely tailored to you. You have your own personal lifestyle, your own requirements and ideas about style and comfort. Werner Scherer will advise you personally to determine all the details of your made-to-measure shirt. Aspects relating to the occasion, age and figure play an important role. With expert advice, you choose the style and model, collar and cuff shape, the buttons and possibly the type and style of your hand-embroidered initials.
