A wide variety of textures, patterns, colors, and materials—paired with the creative expertise of classic tailoring—reflect the full spectrum of design possibilities available in a WERNER SCHERER made-to-measure suit. Each garment is perfectly tailored to your personal requirements and individual style, resulting in a unique, one-of-a-kind creation crafted exclusively for you.
Our goal is a suit that truly reflects your individuality and personality. Your made-to-measure suit is crafted not only for a perfect fit, but also to match your unique style, with our expert guidance every step of the way. In addition to selecting the ideal fabric and color, choosing the right model is essential. We’ll discuss every detail with you—from lapel shape to single- or double-breasted styles, and whether a high-closing three-button or slim two-button design best suits your taste—during a thorough personal consultation.
When an invitation specifies “BLACK TIE” as the dress code, a tuxedo is the expected attire for the event. Tuxedos are also frequently worn at weddings, New Year’s Eve celebrations, and opera galas. When ordering a made-to-measure tuxedo, you have a range of model options to choose from, allowing you to personalize your look. The jacket can be single- or double-breasted, and feature either a peak lapel or a classic shawl collar.
However, the silk facing on the jacket collar and the satin stripes along the side seams of the trousers are always essential elements of a true tuxedo.
A tuxedo shirt, along with accessories such as a bow tie, cummerbund, and evening clutch, completes the ensemble. Knee-high socks are a must when wearing a tuxedo. While black remains the classic choice, you can also opt for a bold statement in blue, burgundy, green, or purple for a touch of extravagance.
SPORTS JACKET | BLAZER | DINNER JACKET
When a suit or tuxedo feels “overdressed,” a sports jacket, blazer, or dinner jacket is often the ideal alternative. Whether you’re meeting friends, attending a business meeting, going to the office, or dressing for a chic event, your personal style should remain consistent and refined—ensuring you feel confident and perfectly at ease in every situation.
What should your jacket look like?
Understated or boldly daring? Single-breasted or double-breasted? Classic with flap pockets and side vents, or stylish with slanted pockets and ticket pockets? How about a safari jacket with a unique back design featuring box pleats and a martingale, plus patch pockets with flaps and pleats for added flair?
You can now look forward to the highly personal journey of creating your made-to-measure suit. The process begins with a consultation to define your unique design. Your measurements are then taken, and an individual pattern is crafted for the cut. After 6–8 weeks of production by our experienced master tailors in Italy, we will schedule a fitting appointment for your WERNER SCHERER suit.
For suits or coats, the final “fine-tuning” of the fit—including hand-finished sleeve buttonholes and the adjustment of trouser length—takes place in our tailor’s studio in Munich. Shortly afterwards, your personal, one-of-a-kind garment will be ready for you to enjoy.
CONSULTATION
We discuss every detail of each garment to ensure your creation is perfectly tailored to you. Your personal lifestyle, preferences, and ideas about style and comfort are our top priority. The WERNER SCHERER team will guide you through every aspect of your made-to-measure suit or jacket, from style and model to collar or lapel choice, lining, buttons, and even the option to personalize with your initials.
Aspects such as the occasion, age, and figure also play an important role in the design process. With expert advice, you’ll select every element—style, model, collar or lapel, lining, buttons, and, if you wish, the style of your initials—to create a garment that is truly your own.
PREMIUM FABRICS
For our custom-made products, we have curated a collection of first-class, high-quality fabrics that perfectly balance functional performance with luxurious comfort. In addition to lightweight cashmere and silk, our selection includes linen, Egyptian cotton, and exceptionally fine merino wool—available in a wide variety of colors and patterns.
Discover classic, season-independent fabrics in a range of weights, as well as seasonal options featuring the latest designs.
Trust in WERNER SCHERER’s expertise and decades of experience. We will guide you in selecting the ideal material for your jacket or tuxedo—advising on the most suitable construction, whether fully or half-lined, or currently on-trend, unlined.
DESIGN CREATION
Once the fabric has been selected, we determine the model. Will the jacket be single-breasted or double-breasted? This choice influences the buttoning style and the shape of the lapel. We also discuss the interior finish, the desired pocket style, and the type of back vents.
Special attention is given to the jacket buttons, which are crafted from genuine horn, mother-of-pearl, or metal for a blazer, as well as the selection of lining fabric—which can serve as a striking accent in a bold color or pattern. As standard, we use high-quality Bemberg viscose for the lining of your jacket, or pure silk for an extra touch of luxury. Upon request, we can also embroider your initials onto your jacket.
Since suits and tuxedos always include trousers, we also help you decide on details such as whether the trousers should have pleats. Other options include the type of fly closure—zipper or button—and whether the waistband features classic belt loops or stylish side adjusters.
SIZE & FIT
Once all the style details have been determined and the perfect fabric selected, we take your measurements. In addition to your body measurements, we also note the measurements of a trial piece to ensure a flawless fit.
The style of the jacket is defined by the shoulder design, jacket length, collar, and sleeve length.
We prefer a soft shoulder construction with only a slight shoulder insert, achieving a natural, comfortable drape. For optimal fit, we pay close attention to well-proportioned shoulder and back width. We take a classic approach to jacket length, as we believe jackets that are too short do not suit adult men. A slightly longer front section with extended lapels creates a slimmer silhouette for the wearer. The sleeve length is customized to your preference, though our style recommendation is that the shirt cuff should protrude approximately 1 cm from the jacket sleeve.
EXPERT TAILORING
WERNER SCHERER draws on a long-standing family tradition, with made-to-measure tailoring at the heart of the company. After transitioning away from in-house tailoring, the creation of custom shoulder pieces such as suits, jackets, and coats has been entrusted to highly skilled Italian tailors.
It takes nearly 25 working hours to craft a single WERNER SCHERER jacket. Throughout this process, our experienced tailors perform countless handcrafted steps.
This dedication to craftsmanship—including hand-cutting, hand-stitching, and hand-pressing—is highly time-consuming, but ensures extraordinary attention to detail and care. The result is a perfect fit and the unmistakable charm and uniqueness of a truly handmade garment.
