With all the pride of our almost 75-year tradition, we combine past and present in the production of our shirts. Two meters of fabric, 15 meters of thread, 10 mother-of-pearl buttons, 2 collar stays, up to 6 hours of work and 21 cut individual parts stand for the message:

Shirts entirely made by hand

The hand-inserted collar and the flat seams connecting the collar stand and collar as well as a soft interlining ensure comfort. On the other hand, the collar stays and precise collar points ensure cool correctness.

An extremely short and fine stitch is the distinguishing and quality feature of the seam of a Werner Scherer shirt with 9 stitches per centimeter. The side seams are only 3 millimeters wide and require three manual work steps due to their fineness.

A customised shirt from WERNER SCHERER is something special. In addition to a perfect fit and high-quality tailoring, we endeavour to produce a made-to-measure shirt with exceptional aesthetics.

Countless collar variations and cuffs, classic or with decorative appliqués, various pocket shapes, different button plackets and hems for wearing inside and outside the shirt - in short, countless combination options for individual design. 

From the wide spread Italian shark collar, the sporty button down, the classic Kent collar to the stylish tab and pin collar or minimalist Indian stand-up collar, each collar reflects its own identity. The stiffness of the collar insert has a decisive influence on the look of the shirt. While a rather firm collar is traditionally a part of business shirts, we use softer inserts for casual and sports shirts, which emphasize the casual and relaxed style. However, we generally recommend a semi-firm interlining to increase comfort. 

After styling and fit, the right choice of fabric is crucial for a handmade Scherer shirt. 

Batiste, poplin, Oxford, twill or voile, fabrics from hand-picked cotton in 100/2 to the finest poplin in 300/2, Sea Island cotton as well as Irish linen and even the highest quality silk from Como are available for you to choose from. A wide range of well over 1000 fabric and design variations, so that every customer can choose the right one for them. 

These fabrics are carefully produced by leading weaving mills such as ALUMO, ALBINI, THOMAS MASON and S.I.C.TESS in Northern Italy and Switzerland, whereby we only use “TWO-PLY” fabrics made of fully twisted yarn for Werner Scherer shirts, as these qualities are more durable, have a better feel and are more comfortable to wear.
