Each year about 8000 Tons world wide is produced. Cashmere comes from the cashmere goat which is mainly found in the high mountains of China and the inner Mongolia. In spring these goats are not shaved. Only the fine hairs are brushed off. Afterwards the then still mixed Huff with the actual hairs must then be separated in a very effortsome process. For one singular pullover the fluff of up to five goats are needed.
Cashmere goats pulls the grass with its roots and earth when eating. This leads to earth erosion in the involving areas. Both China and the Mongolai are suffering from this erosion problem. This is why lesser breading of these animals are being done.
The development of breading these animals in other parts of the world is nearly impossible due to the weather conditions required for thick, pure and premium cashmere. The fur of the cashmere goat is warming due to the lasting cold in the environment.
Pealing generally is a sign of processing shorter Cashmere fibres. The longer the fibres the longer and better they can be stranded/bedded with the yarn. Renowned spinning factories in Italy have the know-how on how to process short fibres perfectly. The pealing (know build up) is easily removed through regular expert washing.
It is best done in the wool program in the washing machine, with the corresponding detergent. Washing by hand is also advised – just do not wring out! With drying, just lay out flat. Laying it out flat helps to keep the form.
